A two week extension has been granted for the closure of Surfleet Road in Pinchbeck with more roads nearby also set to close.
Lincolnshire County Council has granted Burmor Construction’s request for the road to be shut for longer than the nine weeks initially agreed.
The closure has led to a lot of anger locally including from local businesses which say trade has been affected and local residents complaining traffic is ignoring the diversion signs.
That’s already led to Crossgate Lane being closed and now the county council is also to close Flaxmill Drove north of Porthouse Drive and Langhole Drove.
“The decision has been taken because of recent excessive road surface and verge damage caused by traffic using the roads as a rat run to avoid the previous official diversion,” a spokesman for Lincolnshire County Council said. “All businesses in the area remain open as usual and will be accessible by using the official diversion.”
All roads will now scheduled be closed until Sunday, March 22.
“Once the works are complete under the road closure, the planned footpath and street lighting works will continue under temporary traffic signals,” the spokesman continued.
