Cooper on top form for Holbeach A

Five 20-plus breaks from Mick Cooper (O200) proved crucial in Holbeach A’s quarter-final victory over Bourne Pyramid A in the Spalding & District Billiards League Shield competition.

He scored 39, 38, 34, 22 and 20 on his way to beating Martin O’Connor (R70) 200-196 to help his team to an overall 578-577 success. Phil Coaten (R80) was also a winner for the visitors, while Darrell Read scored 24 and 21 on his way to a 200-178 win for Pyramid.
Holbeach B are also through to the last four after a narrow win against Consti A. They prevailed 584-582 thanks to wins from Denis Hix (R70) and Neil Harvey (R50). Alan Hansard (R70) had kept Consti’s hopes alive with a win in the second frame.
The Bourne SC derby went in favour of the B team, who won all three of the games, courtesy of Elliott Gaunt (R40), Lester Gaunt (O10) and Gary Surridge (R80) to come out on top 600-488.
The remaining tie between Consti B and Donington A was postponed.
