Complaints over bus service

An angry Gedney woman has called the 505 bus service “useless” after missing appointments due to it regularly not turning up.

The Voice has been contacted by a number of people complaining that the Stagecoach 505 Spalding – King’s Lynn service has failed to appear, with multiple stories of people being left waiting for hours for scheduled buses that never arrive and missed appointments.

“A lot of people really rely on the bus service,” said Angela Neighbour from Gedney.

“I am a disabled person and I don’t drive. It is useless, you can’t rely on it,” she said.

Route operator Stagecoach East takes to Twitter to announce delays and cancellations. Mrs Neighbour said a lot of users don’t use the social media service so are left in the lurch.

Recent tweets detail a whole day of cancelled buses on September 3, two buses cancelled “due to operational difficulties” on August 31, two scheduled routes cancelled on August 22 due to a breakdown, and seven buses cancelled “due to operational difficulties” on August 21.

A spokesman from Stagecoach East said: “Stagecoach has made some timetable changes, to coincide with schools going back, that will help to make services more reliable.”
