There will be a sea of colour in celebration of the life of a former Holbeach and Spalding footballer next month.
Organisers of a second match to remember Adam Jackson are urging spectators to dress in as loud and bright a colour as they can at the match on Sunday, August 18, 1pm.
The popular player helped both Holbeach United and Spalding United to United Counties League titles and also turned out for Wisbech Town, Boston Town, Parson Drove and Skegness Town.
Fundraising efforts for Jackson’s wife and two young daughters reached more than £20,000 after he took his own life in March 2023.
The Adam Jackson memorial match is taking place at Holbeach United’s Carter’s Park ground and this year’s funds will go to the Samaritans.
Organisers plan to make the event an annual one and have already secured sponsorship for the match, match ball, medals/trophies and officials.
Sponsors are still being sought for the two teams and a band/singer, who will provide entertainment.
The successful Holbeach United Sunday side, which Tim Cole, one of the event organisers, managed to Lincolnshire County Cup glory will be taking on Ahoy FC, a team of Jackson’s friends and former team-mates.
