Care home’s royal open day celebrations

There were right royal celebrations at a Spalding residential home at the weekend.

St John’s Care Home enjoyed a London-themed street party to celebrate the Queen’s 92nd birthday on Saturday.

The event was run with Care Home Open Day and regular PAT dog Monty made a special trip.

Singer Rosa Mae also added to the celebrations later in the day.

Activities and wellbeing co-ordinators Viera Harrison and Ida Brickles decorated the home and painted a London skyline.

There were even Beefeaters on the door while staff dressed in costumes with a Mary Poppins theme.

“This is a great way to show the excellent services on offer and the fantastic work that goes on at St John’s Care Home. Some people still have misconceptions about care homes so we are keen to dispel any myths and for people to come and have a look around, meet the staff and our residents,” said Juliet Peall, home manager.

She said that the idea behind the open day was to encourage local people to visit care homes in their community and to work together to develop better relationships.
