South Lincolnshire Swifts are on the lookout for more players to join their girls’ teams.
The club, which has been running training sessions and matches for girls’ football for ten years, is looking to recruit players for its U11, U13, U14, U15 and ladies’ 16+ teams.
They have been running a ladies’ team for the past eight years, as well as having the usual boys’ and men’s team.
There are 16 teams of both genders, which are made up of 300 players, 250 of them being juniors.
The U11 girls’ team is managed by George Wallis and has just completed their first season as a team.
Club spokesman Ally Tidswell said: “They are a group of girls aged ten and 11 with a true passion for the game, battling off the stigma that is associated with girls playing football, taking on some unjust comments from their peers, they take it on the chin and use that to fire their passion each week in training and at all of their matches.
“They hold their heads high and are getting ready to battle on the pitch for another season.
“The girls are going from strength to strength, gelling as a team and putting their learnt skills to the test over the summer playing in their first round of county tournaments against their peers.
“The girls are looking for a sponsor for 2025/2026 season to help out with season kits and training wear, but seem to be struggling to find one as of yet, so if anyone wants to help make these little girls’ dreams come true, we always welcome any form of sponsorship and/or donations to the club.”
South Lincolnshire Swifts run multiple training sessions each week, with junior sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays starting from 6pm, either at Monks House Playing Field, or at Tyrell’s, Fulney Drove.
The ladies train on a Tuesday, at Tyrell’s at 7.30pm and also play Futsal on a Thursday evening.
The men train on a Tuesday evening at Spalding High School at 6.30pm.
The club is in the process of starting the Super Swifts Development Club aimed at school years 1, 2 and 3, which will take place on a Tuesday evening.
It will be fun football sessions giving children their first steps into the game, developing them and building them towards teams when the players are ready.
It’s £4 a session, on a pay as you play basis.
Alongside this the club is starting a Ladies’ Development Football Club for players aged 16 and above. No previous experience is necessary, again on a pay as you play basis, costing £4 a session, for women who want to give football a go without the commitment until they are ready.
Ally added: “We have many teams who are without sponsors for the 2025/2026 season who are looking to join forces with businesses, repaying the kindness of sponsorship with advertisement for the companies on all kits worn, wearing your business logo with pride, and displaying the partnership across all social media platforms that we use, so if anyone would like to sponsor a team, please get in touch.”
