Spalding miss out in tight finish

There was a narrow defeat for Spalding in the Lincolnshire Board Premier League.

Spalding lost the toss and were inserted by visitors Bourne. They batted through all but four balls of their allotted 50 overs to post a defendable 228.

A thrilling encounter ebbed and flowed with the visitors eventually prevailing by just two wickets, reaching 229/8.

In Division Two of the South Lincs Border League Spalding Seconds suffered a heavy reversal at second-from-bottom Baston.

Spalding won the toss and elected to field, with the home bowlers doing well to dismiss Baston for 172.

However, any hopes of picking up a first win of the season were dashed when their batsmen were sent packing for just 89 runs in 33 overs in their innings.

None of Moulton Harrox’s senior teams were in action at the weekend with blank dates for both their first and second teams in the South Lincs Border League and their Rutland Sunday League side.
