Spalding United’s eight-game losing streak in Evo-Stik NPL First Division South ended with a 2-0 win over Peterborough Sports on Boxing Day, while Holbeach United crashed 4-0 at Wisbech Town in the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division.
It was a first-half Lee Beeson double that secured a rare Spalding success in front of a crowd of 136 at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.
The midfielder netted from the spot on eight minutes, before adding a second on the half-hour.
Chris Rawlinson’s side, who host Newcastle Town on Saturday (3pm), stay 15th despite the win.
Meanwhile, Holbeach saw their UCL Premier Division title hopes dealt a mighty blow by rivals Wisbech at the Fenland Stadium.
Former Tigers Alex Beck (6) and Jon Fairweather (12) put the Fenmen 2-0 up early on, before Stacy Cartwright was shown a straight red card on 13 minutes.
That ended the game as a contest, but Wisbech piled on the agony thanks to a second-half Michael Frew double (61 and 77).
The defeat sees Seb Hayes’ side drop to third ahead of Saturday’s trip to leaders Newport Pagnell (3pm).
UCL Division One leaders Pinchbeck United visit Harrowby United on Wednesday night (7.45pm).
