Battling Pinchbeck United dumped out of county cup by holders Deeping Rangers

Pinchbeck United 0
Deeping Rangers 3

Holders Deeping Rangers eased past Pinchbeck United in the last eight of the Lincs FA Senior Trophy on Tuesday night.

Jack Gurney’s super solo strike fired Deeping ahead on 32 minutes to give them a 1-0 half-time lead at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

The prolific Scott Mooney doubled their lead 23 minutes from time, before a late penalty from Jason Kilbride confirmed the Knights’ exit from the county competition.

Pinchbeck, who were without player/boss Ian Dunn on the night, did at least show plenty of fight as they slipped to a seventh successive defeat in all competitions.

Next up for Pinchbeck is a tough Uhlsport UCL Premier Division trip to high-flying Loughborough University on Saturday (3pm).

Knights: Woolley, Worthington, Nuttell, Ross (Cox 73), Gordon, Parsons, Burton, Hamilton, Francis, Kingston, Wilson (Kacirek 61). Not used: Miles.
