Appeal to support family of Spalding shootings victims quickly tops £1,500

An appeal for financial support to support the family of Spalding shootings victims Claire and Charlotte Hart has quickly raised more than £1,500.

It was started by Kate Haynes, a longtime friend of the family, who is helping Luke (26) and Ryan Hart (25) cope in the aftermath of the tragic event on July 19.
Their mum Claire (50) and sister Charlotte (19) died in the domestic incident in the car park of the Castle Sports Complex swimming pool.

Kate, a neighbour of the family home in Hatt Close, Moulton, started the appeal page to help Luke and Ryan with funeral costs and to enable the community to connect with the brothers in some way. It had a target of £2,000.
Yesterday (Wednesday) the total raised so far stood at £1,515, which includes a £50 donation by this newspaper.

Kate said: “The appeal is going well, it is nearly at our target. It would be nice to see it go higher as I know the boys will put the money to good use.
“Thank you seems so inadequate for all the donations, the love and kind words that they have received, but, truly, thank you so much for helping these lads through such a gruelling time in their young lives.
“I would also just like to say thank you to The Voice for their compassion and helping us with the appeal.”

An open funeral service for Claire and Charlotte is being held at All Saints’ Church in Moulton on Tuesday at 10.30am. Everyone will be welcome and the family has asked that people attending wear “traditional clothes with a touch of colour”.

Kate said: “Ryan and Luke are as to be expected. They need the funerals now for a little bit of closure. They have had immense support all round which is helping, the messages have especially made a difference.”

Donations to the appeal can also be made at The Voice’s reception.
