There is very little anyone could teach Norman Beckett about pastry.

And after 40 years’ employment, Spalding Bakery threw a surprise presentation for him on Tuesday and offered cake to all 560 staff members.

During Norman’s time, which started as a process worker at Ruskington, the company has been owned by Adams Pork Products, Tulip, Kerry Foods and now Addo Food Group.
Operations director George Dickson paid tribute to the process technologist’s knowledge.

Norman (58), of Estella Way in Spalding, said: “My roles have been varied and interesting. And I’ve travelled around the world looking at equipment.”

Norman, who met his wife of 24 years, Alison, at work was presented with a hotel stay and VIP trip to the BSB Superbikes round at Brands Hatch in October.
