A row over a vehicle sale boiled over into violence on a Cowbit drive, a court heard.
Graham Stephen York, who was under a suspended sentence order imposed for an ABH offence, punched piano tuner Warren Goodwin “hard” in the face, magistrates in Boston heard today (Wednesday).
York (44) had returned to his Backgate home to find Mr Goodwin sitting in a vehicle waiting to speak to him about payment for a Land Rover Discovery.
Prosecuting, Paul Wood said Mr Goodwin’s account was that he put the window down and York soon became abusive and started swearing at him.
“Mr York waved his fists close to [Mr Goodwin’s] face and then punched him in the head, causing him immense pain,” said Mr Wood.
“Mr York said Mr Goodwin was a dead man.”
The court heard that a neighbour took a video clip and photos of the incident.
York pleaded guilty to assault by beating on October 19 last year.
Mitigating, Carrie Simpson said there was an element of provocation by Mr Goodwin and it was clearly not a planned attack as the victim had gone to Mr York’s address.
She added that her client suffers from Motor Neurone Disease, had for several years used sticks to walk and had had a heart bypass shortly before the incident.
York was fined £160 and told to pay £100 compensation to Mr Goodwin.
He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
