Care company is ‘Outstanding’

A Long Sutton care company has been awarded the top grade of Outstanding after a recent inspection.

Action Homecare looks after people in their own home and covers the Long Sutton, Sutton Bridge and Holbeach area.

The inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) said that people were at the heart of the service
offered by the company.

“Staff had a deep understanding of each person’s individual needs and preferences and used this knowledge to provide them with flexible, responsive support which enhanced the quality of their lives,” says the report, published last week.

“Staff were caring and friendly and supported people with kindness and compassion in ways which often went far beyond the provider’s formal contractual agreement,” it added.

The CQC awards grades in five key areas of the business as well as one overall.

Action Homecare, based in Market House, Long Sutton, was deemed to be outstanding in three key areas; well-led, responsive and caring. It was good in the areas of effectiveness and safety.

“Without exception, people told us they were completely satisfied with the service they received and could think of no ways in which it could be improved. Any concerns were dealt with promptly,” said the report.

“People were supported to have the maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible,” it added.

The inspection team visited the company twice and spoke with 16 people and eight relatives about their
experience.

Action Homecare has around 60 people on its books and looks after older people and those with  dementia.

Manager Janice Gant was singled out for her “strong, inspirational leadership which was admired and appreciated by her team.”

It was rated as good overall in 2016.
