Eight enthusiastic students took part in the annual Rotary Young Chef Competition.
Students from Spalding Academy and Bourne Academy came together for this annual event.
The challenge was to cook a main course and dessert, served on a table set for two within a budget of just £10.
The judges, Robert Presland and Philip Sammonds, of Peterborough Regional College, and retired local restaurateur Albert Leonard, were impressed with the high standards and congratulated all the entrants on their interesting menus.
Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland President John Ralph presented the certificates and prizes to the winners.
First, second and third places went to Bourne Academy students Caitlin Roche, Amy Taylor and Maddison Dimbleby and fourth was Spalding Academy’s Keavy Langford.
In February Keavy will represent Spalding Rotary Club and Caitlin will represent Bourne Rotary Club in the 2018 district finals in Peterborough.
Organiser Rotarian Rodney Britten said: “The standards this year were again excellent. This is a popular competition which encourages many young people to go on to study food science and catering at university.”
This year’s competition was once again sponsored by South Lincs Food Services and took place at Spalding Academy.
