The Donington school’s students picked up grades in 18 different subjects with the top four most graded seven to nine being health and social care, information technology, performing arts and sports science.

The school also says its students enjoyed a notable increase in grades nine to five in business studies and French.

Mrs Kath Kilby, headteacher at Cowley Academy said: “It has been wonderful to see the successes of our students
today as their hard work and dedication has been rewarded.”

“There have been many new literacy and numeracy initiatives implemented since Cowley Academy joined the trust, and we are especially delighted that English and Mathematics grades 4 or above have increased by 22 per cent.

“The number of top achieving students gaining a 5 or above in English and Mathematics has also increased by 12 per cent per cent.

“I am pleased so many students from Cowley Academy will continue their education in the yrust as they have achieved the results to progress to our SLAT Sixth Form at Bourne Academy.

“I wish all our students the very best in the next phase of their educational endeavours whether this be Sixth Form, college or an apprenticeship, and I hope they will keep in touch with the school in the future.”
