PBs smashed on fast night

It was another fast night on the Spalding Cycling Club ten-mile TT.

Optimal wind direction meant for plenty of course beats and PBs.

Josh Wallis was back for the evening, knocking more time off last week’s course record, taking the win with a 19:33 chased home this week by ever-consistent Matt Chappell with a course best of 21:07.

Rounding out the podium was Nigel Swepson with a course best, 17 seconds adrift of Chappell.

Fourth went to this week’s road bike category winner. Dom Brand traded his TT bike for his road bike taking the category win in preparation for next week’s drop bar challenge.

Brand clocked a rapid 22:07 beating champion elect Josh Dixon, another course best for him, (23:52).

Third place in the road bikes was young gun George Chappell also with a course best and PB of 26:10.

It was a change at the top of the ladies’ event for the first time in over a year!

Jenni Wood, of Bourne Wheelers, came home with the victory on course debut (24:28) chased hard by champion Evgeniya Brand, second with a 25:05 and Samatha Briffett continued her consistent form in third (28:27).

Another notable ride goes to Harry De St Croix. The mountain biker turning his hand to the road came home in a time of 26:30 in less than optimal kit.
