The new waste and recycling collection service in South Holland will start on Monday, November 9.
Wheelie bins will be introduced alongside food waste caddies which will be collected every week.
There will be a separate collection for paper and card, alongside general waste and recycling.
“Over the coming weeks, every household will receive information through the post, including a welcome letter, new collection calendar and a booklet explaining the new waste and recycling service.
“Residents are being urged to read this information carefully and check their new collection day before the service begins,” says a statement from the district council.
As part of the changes, the council has reviewed all its collection rounds which means there will be changes to schedules for some residents.
Each week a specific type of waste will be collected with only the food being taken every week.
Once the new service starts, collections will be on the same day of each week, but with a different bin.
Week one is the black bin for general waste, week two is the blue-lid bin for mixed dry recycling, week there is the black bin for general waste and week four is the purple-lid for paper and card.
Residents should put the orange-lidded outdoor foodwaste caddy alongside the bin for weekly collection.
“This is a significant change to the way we collect waste and recycling in South Holland and represents an important step forward for the district,” said Jim Astill, portfolio holder for corporate and environmental services at the district council.
“We know that changing a service used by every household is a big undertaking, and I would like to thank residents for their patience while we have prepared the new arrangements.
“We will continue to support residents as we make the transition to the new service and help everyone get used to the new collection arrangements.”
Until the new service starts, residents should use the existing sack collection schedules and more information is on council’s website.
