Long Sutton enjoyed a comfortable seven-wicket victory over third-placed Freiston to move top of Lincs League Division One South.
Skipper Aron John elected to field on winning the toss and he was rewarded by a good showing from his bowlers.
They all played a part with Daniel Plant (2-18) picking up early wickets while Josh Baker (0-19) and Barry Stanway (0-14) kept it tight.
When Freiston tried to up the rate, the rest of the bowlers profited, led by Jake Burton (4-32), Rob Simpson (3-38) and Uddyan Hansana (1-16).
Freiston were 136 all out in the penultimate over.
The result never really looked in doubt as opener Calvin Bird finished 64 not out enjoying partnerships of 51 with Rajan Sangha (30) and 42 with Jack Baker (12).
John (9) and Dan Oldfield (14 not out) saw Sutton to their target with ten overs in hand.
It was a day to forget though for Division Two South’s bottom side Long Sutton’s 2nd XI who were bowled out for 36 chasing leaders Baston’s 194/8.
After electing to field first Shanaka Sumanapala was the pick of the Sutton bowlers taking 3-18 from his nine overs and he was backed up well by Eranda Kumara (2-23).
Chasing 196 to win Long Sutton reached 18-1 but then lost the last nine wickets for only 18 more being bowled out in the 21st over for a 158 run defeat.
Two Long Sutton sides met on Sunday in the mid-Norfolk Sunder Cricket League’s Kevin Grimmer Division and it was the Colts who enjoyed an emphatic success over the Mallards, thanks in part to a brilliant 102 from 76 balls by Daniel Plant.
His side reached their target of 169 with 15 overs to spare thanks also to Harry Taylor (20) and Isaac Blundy-Gent (26 not out), Plant having retired after reaching his century.
Earlier in the day Luke Barwick had hit a fine 66 not out as the Mallards posted 168/9 from their 40 overs after they had won the toss and elected to bat first.
That total was bolstered thanks to a handy 39 from number 10 Vijay Karavadara.
Fred Fox-Brown was the pick of the Colts bowlers taking 4-19 from eight overs.
