Sutton are drawing in the points

It was all square across the board for the four Long Sutton teams that were in East League action on Saturday.

Long Sutton Ladies hit back from 2-0 down at home to Cambridge City 6s in Division Three North West to grab a share of the points, courtesy of goals from Morag Nixon and Abigail Richardson.

It was the same result for the second team at home to Huntingdon & Northstowe in Division Four North West, but this time they were twice pulled back after going ahead.

Emma Grosvenor earned them the half-time lead but the visitors levelled and then scored again after a junior player had made it 2-1.

Edmund White grabbed a hat-trick to go with a goal from Daniel Plant in the men’s second team’s 4-4 draw at Ely City 2s in Division Three North West.

That scoreline was repeated by the third team at Cambridge South 5s in Division Five North West, where Alex Canham and Adam Pack both struck braces.

In an unusual Thursday match in Division One North, Sutton’s first team went down 4-2 at Cambridge University 2s.

They were three goals down within nine minutes of the start but Josh Baker scored twice to launch a comeback.

However, he then picked up a green card and two yellows, with the hosts wrapping things up in the second half with a fourth goal.
