A warning has been circulated over a spate of counterfeit banknotes being used in South Lincolnshire.
Neighbourhood Watch says that the fake currency is particularly being reported by residents and businesses in the Boston area.
Lincolnshire Police say that the notes all share the same serial number: HB14692104.
A spokesman for the Neighbourhood Watch said: “We’re asking shop owners and retailers to be especially vigilant during cash transactions.
“Please take a moment to inspect notes carefully.”
How to spot a counterfeit note:
* Blurry or low-quality printing;
* Missing security features (e.g. watermark, hologram, raised print)
* Odd texture or thickness
* Serial numbers that appear duplicated or mismatched.
If you suspect a counterfeit:
* Do not accept the note;
* Report it to Lincolnshire Police immediately or to your bank. Avoid confrontation, your safety is the priority.
