GALLERY – Stars shine at Comicon

Visitors to Spalding could have been rubbing shoulders with Dr Who or Pius Thickness from Harry Potter at the weekend.

They were among guests at a Comicon event held at the Springfields and Conference Centre Event on Saturday.

Organised by Jason Lee and his team at his King’s Lynn shop and business Retro Retreat, the event was packed with fans.

“It went really well and was very popular. There were hundreds of people and the children all wanted to ride the dinosaur we had,” he said.

Sylvester Mccoy (Dr Who) was joined by Guy Henry (Harry Potter, Casualty and Holby City), Willi Coppen (Star Wars), Sophie Aldred (Dr Who assistant) and Clem So (Star Wars, Deadpool, Wolverine, Dr Who and James Bond) all took part in the event.

And visitors weren’t shy about dressing up for the day with everything from Batman to various incarnations of Dr Who.

“It’s the second time it has been held in Spalding, and we are planning another next year,” said Jason.

He also runs card sales for Pokemon collectors and says the one he held on Sunday at the exhibition centre, saw around 1,000 people in the queue waiting to get in.

“We are holding a card sale weekend over May 16 and 17 and another Comicon on August 22 and cards on August 23. It’s a really good venue,” added Jason.
