Tigers take point following chaotic crescendo

Holbeach United twice came from behind to earn a point in a feisty match with FC Peterborough on Saturday.

But that was only half the story as the Tigers finished down to ten men at the end and both sides had penalties in stoppage time at the end of the first half, but neither scored.
FC Peterborough are just outside the play off places in the Thurlow Nunn Division One North and the took the lead after just nine minutes .
Josh Simpson in goal for the Tigers did well to tip a deflected shot over the bar, but the resulting corner was tapped in at the back post by Niall Burnage.
Just three minutes later though Holbeach were level. Peterborough failed to clear their lines from a corner and Marley Hamilton volleyed home.
Simpson had to be alert on a couple of occasions during the first period as Peterborough carved out the better chances.
The visitors regained the lead just before the break as a good move ended with the ball being cut back to Victor Vaz who finished well.
Simpson was not called upon too much in the second half with Peterborough frequently skying efforts over the bar.
Holbeach continued to push and Sam Carter got them level with five minutes remaining, finding an excellent finish after the ball through.
It was the start of a crazy finish.
Firstly Jordan Keeble was sent off for words to the referee as he came off the field.
Moments later though Holbeach had the chance to level from the penalty spot after Kelvin Ibeneme was brought down.
Carter struck the spot kick with plenty of power so even when the keeper got a firm hand to it it went backwards and on to the bar before bouncing away.
Simpson pulled off an excellent save at the other end only for a rash challenge by Josh Ling gave Peterborough a penalty.
Sampson went the wrong way for Tiago Nassunculo’s penalty but was relieved to see it hit the post.
He still had to make another save before the full time whistle was blown.
Holbeach are on the road this Christmas with a trip to Dunsdale and Hellesdon followed by the derby at Pinchbeck United on Boxing Day.
Tigers: Simpson, Greenacre, Lee, Oldham, Ling, Carter, Compton, Roberts, Hamilton, Wright, Cook. Subs: West, Keeble, Ibeneme, Szaablowski.
