Eleanor is the star young chef

Young cooks served up yet another treat at an annual competition.

The Spalding Rotary Club put on its Young Chef competition with Eleanor Seer from Spalding High School tasting the top cash prize.
She was one of six from her school who went up against two from Spalding Grammar School in creating a £18 two-course meal in 90 minutes.
Judging covered all items involved including menu, presentation of the table and food, healthy ingredients, safety and hygiene and of course the taste.
Second and third places were awarded to Zakary Hurley-Roe and Scarlett Meaby.
Judge Tom Hannam from Peterborough Catering College, a professional in catering at Inspire Educational Group, said: “The competition was very tight with only one point between the first, second and third places. The standard this year was very high, and all the competitors achieved very good results in their preparation, presentation and flavour of their ingredients. They should all be proud of their achievement.”
Rotarian Graham Dawson, who organised everything on behalf of Spalding Rotary Club, said: “This is one of our flagship annual events, and we are grateful for everyone who continues to help us to achieve this, especially our long-standing sponsors South Lincs Food Service”
Eleanor will now be entered into the district finals which will take place on February 22 at Loughborough College.
President Sarah Chalcraft, who presented the awards, said: “This event was a great pleasure, and that Spalding Rotary Club are very grateful to Spalding High School for providing and preparing the superb facilities for the competition.”
