Staff GERT that old feeling

Kits to help staff at a community hospital understand how it feels to be old have been purchased by a charity.

The Holbeach Hospital League of Friends has used money from fundraising to purchase the GERT (Gerontologic Test) age simulation suit.
It’s a state-of-the-art tool worn across the body and designed to simulate the physical limitations and sensory impairments associated with aging.
A hospital spokesman said: “This innovative suit will serve as a vital resource in our ongoing efforts to foster empathy, enhance understanding, and improve the quality of care for the elderly population both within the hospital and the wider community.
Mandy Secker, care champion said: “The GERT age simulation suit is a game-changer for us. It aligns perfectly with our mission to provide exceptional care and support to the elderly.
“By enabling our staff to ‘walk in the shoes’ of our older clients, we can better understand their needs and challenges, ultimately improving the services we offer.”
If any community, youth or apprenticeship organisation wishes to enquire about training using the suit, please contact the hospital on in**@ho***************.uk.
