16-week jail term for knife and theft offences in Spalding

A man found with a lock knife in a Spalding street has received a jail term.

At Lincoln Magistrates’ Court last Saturday (April 22), Artur Leontjev was sentenced to 12 weeks after pleading guilty to having the knife in a public place (Westlode Street) the previous day.

He also pleaded guilty to theft of mascara worth £50 from Wilko in Holland Market on March 25. For that offence he was given a four-week prison sentence, to run consecutively with the 12-week term.

The offences by Leontjev (42), of no fixed abode, meant he breached a community order issued by magistrates on February 8. This was given for four offences in Spalding on January 18 – possession of both a class A and class B drug, possession of a knife in a public place (Winfrey Avenue, Spalding), and theft in Winfrey Avenue of a helmet, visor, ear defenders, belt, alan key and tape belonging to an unknown person.

For the four breach charges, Leontjev was given jail terms totalling 15 weeks, to run concurrently with the 16 weeks for his latest offences.
