Spalding Bakery confirms loss of 47 jobs

Redundancy notices have been issued to 47 workers at Spalding Bakery following a consultation over jobs at the beginning of the year.

A  spokesperson said: “We can confirm that, following a detailed consultation with relevant employees, we have reluctantly taken the very difficult decision to reduce the total number of roles.
“We’ve worked hard throughout the consultation period to minimise potential job losses, but unfortunately we can confirm that we have served notice on 47 roles that will be made redundant in due course.”

Around 500 people are currently employed at the Fulney Lane site. Shift patterns have also been restructured “to streamline processes and identify essential efficiencies”.0
