Young tennis aces have smashing time at comp

Spalding Tennis Club hosted the Lincolnshire South East School Sport Partnership’s School Games tennis competition recently with a team from Monkshouse finishing an excellent second place.

Westfield in Bourne pipped them to the title in the annual Years Three and Four competition that involved seven schools.
A Designated Sports Leader from Spalding Academy helped oversee the 15 teams who each played six matches.
School Games Organiser Rupert Gibson was delighted with how the event went.
He said: “The atmosphere was great, it was fantastic to see so many pupils playing tennis and the great leaders from Spalding Academy and Kirkstone House doing such a excellent job.
“The leaders were nervous at first as they took their teams through a warm up and training session but they did brilliantly.
“For nearly all of the year 3 and 4 pupils it was their first chance to come out to a School Games event and represent their schools.
“They had a great time, played loads of games and showed huge improvement.
“Thank you so much to Spalding Tennis Club for hosting.”
