Work starts on council’s rental homes

A council owned group has started work on ten new rental homes in Spalding.

Welland Homes, a solely owned company of South Holland District Council, in conjunction with local contractor D Brown Ltd has started work at Parkside Crescent in Spalding to deliver ten two-bedroom semi-detached private rent homes, which will be completed in the spring of 2019.

Peter Coupland, Welland Homes director, said he was delighted to see Welland Homes working with a local contractor to deliver new homes to Spalding.

He said: “Welland Homes will be investing significantly throughout the district, and I believe this development at Parkside Crescent meets a need for good quality, well-equipped homes near to the town centre of Spalding.

“This new development will provide residents with energy-efficient homes in a prime location, owned and maintained by a responsible landlord.

“Welland Homes is committed to working with local house builders to build more quality homes in the area, which can only benefit the local area in terms of housing stock, amenities and the local economy.

“More new homes are in the pipeline which will be provided across the district, not just Spalding.”

Councillor Christine Lawton, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Health, added: “I see this as a great opportunity for Spalding to further strengthen its housing provision to all.

“Good quality, well-managed homes is not only great for residents but also the town and wider district.”
