Consti E proved too strong again for Holbeach D as they started the second half of the season by stretching their lead at the top of the Spalding & District Snooker League to eight points.
After seeing off the Holbeach challenge 5-1 in their opening match of the season, they stepped up another gear to win the away meeting 6-0. Simon Law (scr) opened proceedings with a stunning 71-8 win over Ian Woodberry (scr), including a 25 clearance.
Dan Peppercorn (o14), Michael Harrison (scr), James Kingston (o28) and Martin Ulyatt (o21) completed the whitewash, with Kingston chalking up a 35 break. Paul Daw (o28) and Andy Spearman (scr) scored breaks of 23 and 21 respectively for the home side.
Donington C completed a 4-2 double over Consti H with an away win and remain in second place, but fell a further two points off the title pace.
Services C avenged their opening day 5-1 defeat at Pyramid C with a 4-2 home win to leap-frog their opponents in a tight encounter. Two of the frames went to the black ball, with Geoff Hemsil (r14) seeing off Jason Green (o56) 96-95, despite a break of 23 from the visitor. The last frame saw Richard Skellett (o14) beat Services’ Nigel Cherry (scr) 50-48.
Other home wins came from Craig Fitter (o63) and Kev Fitter (o7), who enjoyed a clearance of 22. Pyramid’s other winner was Dave Pearson (o14).
Derby revenge was sweet for Pyramid D, who beat Pyramid A 4-2, having lost the reverse fixture 5-1, to leave their visitors on their own at the foot of the table.
Victor Rouse (r7) and Jim Benner (r14) were winners for the A team, with Marcus Hamilton (o28 – 27 break), James Sharpe (o49) and Reegan Cooke-Holmes (o21) victorious for the hosts. Cooke-Holmes struck breaks of 31 and 20.
The visitors again took the points in the second meeting of Bourne SC A and Consti G, with Consti repeating their hosts’ 4-2 away win. However, they had to do it the hard way, hitting back from 2-1 down after Ian Gibson (scr) and Carl Gibson (scr – breaks of 31, 28 and 21) had overturned Ady Sibley’s (o35) opening frame win, in which he hit a 22 break. Mark Gray (o98) was the unlucky player in that opening game, scoring breaks of 26, 26 and 20 in his defeat. Joe Garland (scr) and Martin Deacon (o14) turned the tables.
Holbeach C took their points tally for the season against clubmates Holbeach B to ten, thanks to a 4-2 home success, having won the first meeting 6-0. Nick Edwards (r14), Terry West (r7) and Paul Ashton (r14) were the home winners, with Charlie Mullane (r28) and Neil Harvey (o21) triumphant for the losers.
Division Two leaders Boundary A repeated their first match 5-1 win at Whittlesey C in the home return. Neil Burton (o7) gave them a shock with an opening frame win but it was one-way after that. Elliott Cox (r7), Andy Mowforth (scr), Tim Burrows (r7) and John Tidswell (o21) wrapped up the points, with Burrows making a 22 clearance in his black-ball win and Tidswell scoring a 20 break.
Gosberton A narrowed the gap at the top to seven points with a whitewash of Pyramid E. Carl Wand (o7) made a 25 clearance in his opening frame win and he was followed to victory by Andy Adair (r14), Adam Twigg (o7), Alan Jackson (scr) and Jamie Mumby (o21).
Holbeach A suffered a second shock of the season against lowly Consti B with a 4-2 away defeat, to match their home reversal. Remarkably, it means half of Consti B’s wins this season have come against Holbeach A.
Mick Johnson (o21) got them off to a winning start with a 22 break but Wayne Dent (o56) and Derek Beba (r7) put Holbeach ahead. Stuart Davies (o14) hit a break of 20 to level things, with John Keeton (o7) settling things in favour of the hosts.
Consti I are only five points adrift at the foot of the standings after a 4-2 win at home to Consti F. John Bellerby (r7) and Pete Stokes (r7) put the home side 2-0 to the good before Robert Adams (o14) pulled one back, scoring a 25 break on the way.
David Twelves (o7) settled things with a black ball
60-53 win over Justyn Stanley (scr) before Bryan Turnell (r14) narrowed the gap.
Holbeach E and F are locked in a battle for mid-table supremacy after the E team reversed their opening day 5-1 defeat with a similar-sized win.
James Crampton (o7) hit a 29 break in his first frame win with victories following for Ethan Lawrence (r14), Ben Harding (o42) – including a 33 clearance – and Josh Stretton (r14) before Alex Bourne (o21) stopped the rot.
Services B completed a double over Services D, winning 4-2 in their away match after their earlier 5-1 home triumph.
Jason Rose (o28) and Jeff Collins’ (r7) away wins were matched by Paul Spicer (o21) and Alan Day (r21) before Alan Hansard (scr) got the better of Russ Morse (o7) 49-42 in the black-ball decider.
Pyramid B gained revenge for their first day 4-2 defeat at the hands of Consti C by reversing the scoreline to take over top spot in Division Three. Phil Cooke (r7) and Denis Pearson (scr) gave Pyramid a 2-0 lead but Steve Crane (scr) and Mark Craig (r21) made it 2-2. It was left to Roy Jackson (r14) to hold his nerve to beat Kevin Sweeney (r7) 51-47 on the black ball to settle things.
Previous leaders Gosberton D fell 4-2 at home to Boundary B. Adam Crow (r21) claimed first blood for the visitors but Neil Simmons (o14) and Dan Hanger (scr) put Gosberton ahead. It was left to Paul Spittlehouse (o56) and Dougy Lythgoe (o14) to decide matters.
Whittlesey A completed a 4-2 double over Consti A to go level on points with Gosberton. Wins from Wayne Wilding (o7) and Bill Prosser (o7) saw Consti go 2-1 up but the home side prevailed thanks to wins from Jason Clarke (o14), Steve Jennings (o35) and Malc Bruce (o7).
Donington B marched to a 12-0 aggregate whitewash against Gosberton B by repeating September’s 6-0 away win. Pete Burrell (o7), Phil Burrell (r7), Gav Lewis (o7), Paul Stewart (o7) and Mick Clark (r14) were all successful in the home rematch.
Whittlesey B also completed a double, seeing off Consti D 4-2 away, courtesy of wins from Andy Skutela (r14), John Skutela (o7) and Kerry Skutela (r28). Geoff Ellingworth (r14) and Martin Perkins (o21) book-ended those defeats with wins in the opening and final frames for the home side.
That result was repeated at Donington D, where the hosts beat Gosberton C 4-2, thanks to wins from Pat Taylor (r21), Dan Sawdy (scr) and Marcus Reynolds (scr) after Chris Sibley (r7) and Mark Payne (o14) had given Gosberton a 2-1 advantage.
