Woman spat at while taking daughter to school

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman taking her daughter to school was abused and spat at in what’s being treated as a hate crime.

The incident took place at around 8.30am on Tuesday, (January 21) on Saltern Drive in Spalding.

South Holland Police say a man blocked the woman’s path, spat at her and swore, referring to her as a “foreigner”.

A spokesman for South Holland Police, said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a woman was verbally abused whilst doing the school run on Tuesday morning.

“The woman was on Saltern Drive in Spalding at around 8.30 am with her daughter when a man blocked her path, spat at her and swore, referring to her as a “foreigner”.

“As such we are treating this as a hate crime and urging any witnesses to come forward. Do you know who this man is? Did you see the incident?

“Please call us with any relevant information. Hate crime is rightly a high priority for us.

“Discrimination will not be tolerated in our communities for whatever reason.

“If you have experienced or witnessed any similar behaviour we would like to hear from you.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident 92 of 21 January.
