Wendy hangs up her woggle

A woman who has helped the scouting organisation in South Holland for over 40 years has hung up her woggle.

Wendy Smith was given a special thank you at the South Holland District Scouts AGM at the Pecks Drove campsite.

For a number of those she’s been the badge secretary, a role she’s handing over to Christine Gratton.

There was also a special presentation of a Good Service award to Kalene Claxton.

There’s also a brand new chairman in Mark Le Sage.

The group’s Laney Derrick said: “There were a variety of events during the evening and Mark and his daughter Ella got to have a go at throwing axes and shooting arrows as well as learning how to start a fire.

“The young people also had a great time on the bouncy castle as well as scrambling round the black hole followed by a selection of hotdogs and specially baked cakes.”

Mark added: “I’m very proud and honoured to have been asked to support such a fantastic association in our district.

“The Scouts offer the young people of South Holland the opportunity to develop skills they will need in adult life and anything that is positive for the future community of this area should be applauded.”

The group is on the lookout for volunteers. If you can help contact lorraine.derrick@southhollandscouts.org.uk
