Week saw message get out

A stall in Ayscoughfee was among the initiatives carried out during Mental Health Awareness Week locally.

The Community Mind Matters group and it’s organiser Vanessa Browning used the period to advertise the help it provides in South Holland.

That includes numerous groups and the opportunities available to chat about mental health.

On top of her usual busy week Vanessa had a stall in Ayscoughfee next to the bench which, at certain times people can sit on and have a chat with someone.

Coun Manzur Hasan joined her for the event and pledged to help the group more in the future.

“The whole week went well really well and I met a lot of people wanting support and those who did not know what Community Mind Matters is about,” said Vanessa. “I’ve been able to signpost some to groups I run.

“It’s all about getting that message out that there is help out there.

“I’m incredibly lucky that I get lots of support.

“Thanks to Coun Hasan for coming down and Coun Ingrid Sheard who has always been a huge help for me.

“This is a service for the community and you never know when you might need it and someone to talk to.”

For more information and details of what help is out there, you can request to join the Community Mind Matters group on Facebook.
