Tydd St Giles seniors’ open is a hit for air ambulance coffers

A seniors’ mixed open at Tydd St Giles Golf Club raised more than £350 for this year’s chosen charity, East Anglia Air Ambulance.

More than 50 players from around the area competed in the Stableford pairs competition, organised by Roy Pesterfield.

Overall result: 1st Phillip & Sue Gurr (King’s Lynn GC) 43pts ocb; Malcolm & Nicola Stead (Tydd St Giles) 43pts. Away players runners-up Paul Allen & Margarete Ward (Spalding GC) 41pts; home players runners-up Paul & Christine Burrell 38pts.

South Lincolnshire Scratch League: Tydd St Giles 4.5 Thorney Lakes 1.5 (Wayne Alder & Mark Whittaker won 2&1, Lenk Gostic & Neil John lost 4&3, Adey Bills & Andy Jackson halved, Luke Rowell & Ady Rowell won 3&1, Paul Chaplain-Barton & Rod drew won 3&2, Tim Hines & Ian Edrupt won 2&1.

Spalding GC ladies’ section: The Spalding Am-Am Spring Open was played in heavy drizzle, with 128 players from 24 clubs.
The first three places were decided on count back with the Belton Woods team of Jackie Wilson, Gaynor Deakin, Carole Stoddard and Kylie Bullimore taking top spot with 80 points.
Second place went to Jayne Barr (Beeston Fields), Helen Lister & Kirsten Fulton (Rushcliffe) and Janet Thomas (Chevin). Third were Lorraine Robinson, Mandy Lees, Mary Stark & Mairaid Scott from Toft.
Fourth from Brampton Park were Sally Palmer, Kath Emery, Anne Gibb and Shirley Osbourne, and fifth were another team from Toft – Louise Bradley, Judith Childs, Angela Jenkinson and Karen Parsonage.
Four ladies recorded 2’s, each receiving 2 dozen golf balls. They were Lady captain Paula Brown (9th), Mandy Lees (Toft, 9th), Jane Barr’s (Beeston Fields, 9th) and Anne Gibb (Brampton Park, 6th)

The Hardy Cup (4 BBBB competition) was won by Wendy Revill and Deborah Ellis with 41 points.
Runner-ups were to Angela Roper and Claire Rylott on count back from Gill Dewhurst and Jane Woolard, and Dina Freedman and Sue Watson, all on 38 points.
Ladies’ B: Lincoln 3 Spalding Ladies’ B 1 (Ruth Atkins and Debra Ward won 4&3; Anita Cross and Tracey Saddle lost 1 down; Paula Brown & Theresa Starbuck lost 3&2; Avril Norton & Sue Watson lost 4&3).
Spalding Ladies B 3.5 Boston West 0.5 (Lesley Williams and Ruth Atkins halved; Anita Cross and Paula Brown won 2&1; Theresa Starbuck and Avril Norton won 6&4; Sue Watson &Jacquie Clare won 6&4).

Sutton Bridge GC results: South Kyme 5 Sutton Bridge 2nd 1 (S Shippey and J Shippey lost 3&1; R Hotson and A Maxey lost 6&5; P Lawrence and J Essam lost 6&4; J Waters and S Roberts lost 1 down; T Spriggs and T McEwan won 1 up; S Thorpe and P Gilbert lost 4&2).
Ladies’ Hudson Cup: 1st Margaret Fox 32pts; 2nd Jean Buswell 30pts; 3rd Christine Burrell 28pts.
