Michael McCleery was the winner of Tydd St Giles seniors’ annual Christmas 13 hole competition.
He saw off Tim Martin and Roger Lancaster in second and third respectively to take the win in the charity event.
It was followed by Christmas lunch and a cheque presentation of £2,383.67 to their charity for 2019 the Meadowgate Academy at Wisbech.
Their representative Matt Gill accepted the cheque and thanked all for their generosity to the academy that takes on young people with physical and learning difficulties from the ages of two to 19 years.
The donation is due to go towards the academy buying an adapted bus.
In 2019 the seniors also donated £447 to Cancer Research UK and £171 to East Anglia Air Ambulance.
- Tydd’s 2019 captain Giles Stearne has raised £4,000 from his year in the role which has been donated to the homeless charity The Ferry Project.
It was presented to charity representative Keith Smith recently.
Giles wished to thank his vice-captain Mark Johnson and all the golf club members and all his many sponsors for their support.
Through his fundraising they also raised £800 to The Sick Children’s Trust and £500 for Addenbrookes Kidney Patient Association.
