Tuesday football: Derby defeats for Holbeach and Pinchbeck

Both Holbeach United and Pinchbeck United suffered derby defeats in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North on Tuesday night.

Holbeach were handed a 4-1 reverse at Boston Town, while Pinchbeck slipped up 1-0 at Deeping Rangers.

Starting with the Tigers, Harry Limb fired Boston 1-0 ahead following a Lee Beeson corner on 17 minutes, but Holbeach did hit back when Harry Grigas netted his first for the club just after the half-hour mark.

However, Charlie Ward stabbed home number two for the Poachers to give them a 2-1 advantage at the break, before Limb tapped home a third, his second, two minutes into the second period.

There was still time for Abou Sylla to round off the scoring for Boston 20 minutes from time, sending the hosts to the top of the embryonic table and leaving the Tigers to lick their wounds.

As for the Knights, manager Lewis Thorogood was sent off as Pinchbeck United suffered a 1-0 derby defeat at Deeping Rangers on Tuesday night.

A super long-range strike from Sam Wilson on 25 minutes was all that was needed to seperate the sides in the clash at the Haydon Whitham Stadium.

However, Deeping had Robbie Ellis sent off for a push on Haydn Havard – who was booked – moments later, meaning the Knights played the final hour or so against ten men.

They had their moments, with Harry Peasgood firing over just before the break and Avi Viera – who started alongside Andre Williams after both joined on loan from Wisbech Town – nodded a great chance over late on.

Cameron Baldock-Smith was also sin-binned late on for Pinchbeck to ensure both sides finished with ten men, before Thorogood was sent from the dugout in the dying seconds for dissent.

More to follow.
