Trio of bream help Kilby grab victory at Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Sunday match

The threat of adverse weather didn’t deter the regulars for the latest Tydd Gote Angling Club Sunday match on the North Level at Main Road.

Five hours in non-stop torrential rain did force one or two home for an early bath, but plenty remained.

If you put good anglers on good pegs there is usually only one outcome – and so it proved as Andrew Kilby and Archie Greenwood fought it out from hot pegs 34 and 35 for first and second places.

Kilby had three bream and some bits for his 13lb 2oz, while Greenwood had just one bream to go with a net of stamp roach from end peg for his 9lb 10oz.

Chasing them hard was Dave Simmonds, who again hooked a big tench – but this time successfully transferred it to his net and with a bream as well came in third with a level 7lb.

Wednesday Open Match result (Main Road) – 1st John Taylor 10lbs 10oz; 2nd Sammy McSpadden 5lbs 15oz; 3rd Ian Benton 5lbs 08oz.

Thursday Evening club match (Blackdyke) – 1st Andrew Lawrence 6lbs 07oz; 2nd Pete Emery 4lb 11oz; 3rd Archie Greenwood 3lb 12oz.
