Top talent Leighton the special guest at darts Champions Night

An impressive £600 was raised for Prostate Cancer at a Champions Night of darts held at the Drayman’s Arms last week.

The star guest on the night at the Spalding venue was 2019 Lakeside world youth champion Leighton Bennett.

He was joined by 2017 and 2018 England pairs champions Dennis Harbour and Steve Carrett, with the trio throwing a few arrows against local darting talent.

As well as facing off against the natives, they also had a pairs match which Bennett joined by local player Scott Williams.

Amazingly, Williams has won the Boston League singles, Pinchbeck and District League singles, Spalding and District League singles, Kirton singles and also the Consti Open all in the same season.

He and Bennett won what was an eye-catching showdown 2-1.

A signed dartboard raised £160 on the night, while all of the other monies raised came from the raffle, badges, wristbands and shirt sales.

Also on the night, Diane Tilley was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers by the landlord and landlady of the Drayman’s Arms for helping her husband Ian Tilley, who had organised the evening.

Ian said: “A big thank you goes to everybody who came to support and the players who took part.

“Also a big thank you for donations and raffle prizes kindly donated for the evening.

“Thanks also go to sponsors Batemans Brewery, David Bowman Pumkins, Premier Stores Little London, Central Fish Shop in Holbeach and Hughes Electrical in Spalding.”
