The North Level at Tydd Gote was low with a steady flow for the latest Sunday Club match at Main Road – and with a frost on the ground most of the day anglers wondered if the fish would feed.
But the drain continues to produce results for Tydd Gote Angling Club’s members, even when conditions are less than perfect.
Leading the way was Andrew Kilby, who put 10lb 2oz on the scales from peg three. His net was made up of around 5lb of silvers to a short pole line, topped up with a 5lb tench on his worm rig to take the win.
Pete Emery was second with an all small fish catch on a variety of methods for 7lb 2oz.
Emery was just below the concrete this week but found the fish on waggler, whip and long and short pole.
Don Green had a single fish from peg four, but it was a 6lb tench and that gave him enough for third place – just in front of Dennis Houghton’s net made up of 5lb 3oz of small fish from peg two.
Results: Wednesday Open (at Main Road): 1st John Taylor 7lb; 2nd Archie Greenwood 5lb 15oz; 3rd Dennis Houghton 2lb 2oz.
