Red-hot Spalding under-16s smashed rivals Wisbech under-16s for six in the England Hockey Boys’ National Cup.
The deadlock was broken when Jacob Baker played a ball through to Robin Edlington who found Ben Scholes to rifle home the first goal of the game.
Edlington then danced through the middle, evading a number of tackles before finishing with aplomb to double the advantage.
Spalding turned the screw after the break with some quick-fire goals to kill the game off.
Max Bland grabbed a brace, the first from a short corner which saw George Halgarth inject to James Mayhew, whose clever slip to Max on the right saw him dispatch a neat finish.
That was soon followed up with a second when Scholes played a smart ball into the forward who didn’t need asking twice to bury it home.
A fifth goal came when Danny Dorey got round the back and cut a perfectly weighted ball back to Tom Amess – whose shot was right in the corner.
The last goal of the game saw great determination pay off, as a number of attempted tackles eventually saw Halgarth lift the ball into the roof of the net and finish off a fabulous afternoon.
They next face Northampton Saints away on November 19.
