Long Eaton United 7 Pinchbeck United 0
Pinchbeck United slumped to their heaviest defeat of the season on Saturday as title favourites Long Eaton United thrashed them 7-0.
Goals from Tom Marshall (5), Mitchell Robinson (17 & 66), Alex Marshall (32), Romaine Graham (62), James Shaw (72) and Jamie Walker (75) made it a day to forget for the Knights at Grange Park.
Pinchbeck boss Lewis Thorogood always knew it was going to be a tough test for his side, but admitted the manner of the defeat left him reeling.
He did, however, praise the performance of Long Eaton.
“To their credit, Long Eaton are a very good side,” said the Pinchbeck boss. “They are very good, very strong, very powerful and very direct.
“They are absolute masters of their craft when it comes to long throws and set-pieces.
“But, all of that being said, we have prided ourselves on being hard to beat and much harder to play against this season.
“On Saturday, we did the complete opposite to that.
“To me, that’s not acceptable and I don’t want to see it again.
“It’s fair to say we were expected to lose on Saturday, but this was no way to lose a game.
“I expect much better moving forward, but once again would like to praise Long Eaton.”
