Former Holbeach United full-back Mark Thompson has agreed to join ambitious Pinchbeck United as player/coach.

The right back, who was a team-mate of Pinchbeck player/boss Ian Dunn when both played for the Tigers, becomes the fourth new face to join the Peterborough Premier Division club this summer.

Thompson is vastly experienced and strong on set-pieces, making him an excellent acquisition for the Knight Street outfit.

Having snapped up talented trio Louis Saebe, Elliott Price and Tyler Wright this summer, Dunn is also planning on adding two new assistants to his coaching staff over the weekend.

But he’s glad to have the experience of Thompson on board ahead of Saturday’s pre-season opener at Benington (2.30pm).

Dunn said: “It’s great to have him on board, he’s been a great help already in the sessions we’ve had and will be vital to help the young players’ progress this season.

“With Mark and the two assistants I’m hoping to add by the end of the weekend we will have a great mix of youth, experience, and local knowledge to take the club forward.”
