The Duke coming to cinema

Sutton Bridge Cinema is returning for its second showing.

The Duke starring Helen Mirren and Jim Broadbent is the feature at The Curlew Centre on Saturday, October 15.

The wonderfully uplifting tale tells the story of Kempton Bunton, a 60-year-old taxi driver who stole a Goya portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London in 1961.

The full story of his motive and what he did with the painting only came to light 50 years later and is documented in the film The Duke.

Doors open at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start with entry £3.

The cinema’s new set up at The Curlew Centre, which includes a 7.1 Dolby surround sound to complement the five metre wide screen launched last month with a screening of the musical Sunshine on Leith.
