The former Birds / Hungry Horse pub in Spalding will become a 61-bed care home if submitted plans are approved.
Eton-based Glenholme Group has submitted plans for the former pub, which closed in December last year.
Greene King operated the pub and still own the land on which the proposed two-storey care home will be built.
Under submitted plans, a new 1.8m-high close boarded boundary fence will be put up to secure the proposed garden areas and the car park will be remodelled to allow adequate turning and parking for 22 visitors and two disabled bays, as well as an ambulance bay at the main entrance.
According to the Design and Access Statement, the bedrooms will measure 16-square-meters, with an en-suite wet room.
The statement goes on to say day space in the form of lounges and dining rooms will be built and the allotted space will be “substantially more” than the legal limit of 4.1 square metres per resident.
There will also be additional communal space providing a hairdressers facility, a cinema room and an activity room.
In summary, the statement said the development “will go towards meeting an unmet need in the area for specialised beds for people in need of care and living with dementia in state of the art environments.”
It continues, stating it will “allow houses to be released in the community and hospital beds to be freed up by elderly residents.
“The building has been designed to provide access to secure outside space, views across the gardens and landscaping with plenty of space to maximise natural light into all of the proposed building.”
The plans will be considered by South Holland District Council.
