Swineshead’s Scott suffers defeat on BDO World Darts Championship debut

Scott Williams was handed a 3-0 defeat by Justin Thompson on his debut at the BDO World Darts Championship.

Swineshead thrower Williams, who is a regular on the South Holland darting scene, was soundly beaten by the Australian ace who was playing in his third consecutive finals.

The 2020 event is being held at London’s O2 Arena this year after making the switch from Lakeside.

Williams came through a large field to earn one of the four spots on offer at the qualifying event in which he earned a notable win over former PDC Premier League player Wes Newton.

As well as the event being his World Championship debut, it was also his first big-stage appearance.
