The swimmers were supported poolside by club chairman Andy Sorrell, coach Matt Gosling and team mangers Heidi Skells and Annabel Lamb.

A club spokesman said: “It was for some their first ever gala and these young swimmers did their club extremely proud.

“Having 90 per cent of all racers gain personal bests in every race is an amazing achievement, showing that nothing will dampen their spirits or determination.

“Although the swimmers were competing against each other they showed immense team spirit and sportsmanship.”
