Sutton Bridge marina opens for business

New marina facilities for Sutton Bridge were officially opened on Wednesday.

The £900,000 project was a joint effort between Lincolnshire County Council and Fenland District Council.

Fenland is the Port Authority for the River Nene which rises in Northamptonshire and serves Wisbech and heads to The Wash at Sutton Bridge.

“First impressions are important and the new marina will serve as an impressive gateway to the county,” said Coun Colin Davie, county member of economy and place.

“It will undoubtedly help attract more visitors to the area, with many using local shops, pubs and restaurants, boosting the local economy.

“Many of the moorings have already been allocated and we are seeing the start of a new boating community taking shape,” he added.

More berths are available and if anyone is interested in finding out more, contact Andrew Foster on 01945 588059.
