Students are a cut above

Holbeach students have used their developing skills to raise nearly £800 for a local charity.

Pupils studying for Level One and Two joinery at University Academy Holbeach created a host of items to sell in the run-up to Christmas.

All the profits were donated to Tonic Health’s Holbeach Hub which runs a host of groups for the community from its Boston Road South base.

A cheque for £789.09 was given by the Joinery department to Tonic Health last week.

Level One lead teacher, Tim White said: “It’s one thing to build something for a grade, but it’s another thing entirely to build something that makes a difference in the community.”

Sam Collins, manager of Holbeach Hub, said: “This will greatly help the community who use the charity and will be circulated across many of the groups that attend.

“Everyone at the Holbeach Hub cannot thank the Joinery Department and UAH enough.

“This will be spread wisely making great benefits towards the community as well as people’s mental and physical wellbeing.”
