Barry Stanway and Rob Simpson both took five wickets each as Long Sutton beat Belton Park by 44 runs in South Lincs and Border League Division One on Saturday.
Having been put into bat by hosts Belton Park, Sutton looked big underdogs when they were bowled out for 107 in just 33 overs.
Aaron John (31) and Stanway (20) were the only two players to make scores of note, with Rohan Perera (3-19), Dan Reynolds (3-29) and James Ward (3-33) ripping through the order.
However, Sutton’s score proved to be more than enough thanks to the heroics of Stanway and Simpson.
Only three players – Reynolds (11), Richard Cocks (14) and Dan Turner (15) – managed double figures with pace ace Stanway (5-32) and spinner Simpson (5-21) wreaking havoc.
The victory, which earned Sutton 16 points, keeps their 100 per cent record for the season alive and they are already 31 points clear at the top.
- Long Sutton 2nd were also indebted to their bowlers as they beat Spalding Town 3rd by 13 runs in Division Two.
Batting first, James Coote (10) top scored as Sutton made just 63 at the Memorial Field.
Eddie Seymour (3-4), Carl Lamming (2-11) and Jack Sawyer (2-10) did the damage for Town.
However, Spalding 3rd then slumped to 50 all out as Adam Whitaker (4-14) shone with the ball for Sutton. Josh Baker (2-19), Andy Shaw (2-4) and D Tyner (2-11) shared the rest of the wickets.
