Stand up job to help sit down

Residents at a care home have a newly bench built by members of a local group funded by a supermarket.

The Long Sutton Men’s Shed was awarded a generous donation from Tesco Holbeach, with the funds to be used for the benefit of the community.

Members of the shed agreed to make a wooden bench and donate it to the Kimberley Care Village in Long Sutton.

The shed’s Frank Heinrich-Jones said: “Our master carpenter Chris Harvey kindly agreed to take on the task with the help of other shed members.

“Chris has worked hard to create a wonderful, solid, long lasting hard wood (sapele) bench which was given six coats of Danish oil a high quality wood preservative. “

The bench was presented to care home manager Karen Gostic who said: “We are so grateful to Tesco and the Long Sutton Men’s Shed and in particular Chris who has made this fine bench, which will be enjoyed by our residents for many years to come.”
