Sports club and seven-acre park plan for Pinchbeck to be unveiled

A seven-acre park, sports club, community hub, skate park and youth club are among big plans for the future of Pinchbeck.

A community engagement day will be held on Wednesday (May 27) to give villagers the chance to hear about the ideas and put forward their views.

The centrepiece of the day will be plans for the seven-acre community park and orchard on land off Blue Gowt Lane, close to its junction with Market Way and in a triangle created by the railway line, and the rear of homes in Penway Drive.
The park includes an area for dog walking, schools area, wild flower meadow, fruit and veg patch, wood sculptures and camping area.

A new Pinchbeck Community Sports Club could also evolve from Pinchbeck Football Club, which could see a ten-acre site in the village turned into a multi-sports ground.
Plans include full size and junior pitches, floodlights and hard standing areas – taking the facilities to a standard that would allow the senior team to compete at the same level as clubs such as Holbeach United.
There could also be a county size outdoor bowling green and other sports clubs, such as cricket and archery, could be invited to use the facilities as their base.

The engagement day will also give villagers the chance to learn more about future plans for Pinchbeck library, which the parish council wishes to see turned into a community hub, with the library open three days a week, plus Saturday mornings.
Plans for a new parent and toddler group in the village will also be highlighted, and visitors will be asked about what they would like to see at Rotten Row playing field and Glebe sports field, such as a skate park or play equipment for younger children.

Staff from Lincolnshire County Council will also be on hand to talk to people about the possibility of forming a new youth club, to be held at the new community hub.
The engagement day will be at the library building in Knight Street, from 10am to 7pm.

There will also be performances by Rhubarb Theatre, a climbing wall, mobile skate park, arts and crafts throughout the day.
